Shamrock

Shamrock is one of the national symbols of Ireland. It is traditionally worn on St Patrick's Day. Wearing of the shamrock is believed to be a portent of good luck.

Trinity Knot

Although the origins of the Trinity Knot can be traced back to pagan times it later was used in ancient Celtic Art and religious manuscripts such as the Book of Kells.

In modern times it has become synonymous to Christians as the symbol of the Holy Trinity (Father, Son & Holy Spirit)

Along with the Claddagh it is a hugely popular design in modern Irish Jewellery.

Celtic Cross

A celtic cross is a symbol that combines the cross with a ring surrounding the intersection. It is the characteristic symbol of Celtic Christianity, though the symbol actually has older pre-Christian pagan origins.

It is also referred to as the Irish Cross or the Cross of Iona

Tara

Tara is the name of the home of the Ancient Kings of Ireland. Located in County Meath (The 'Royal' County) it contains a myriad of ancient monuments and was the seat of the High King of Ireland.

Tara was Ireland's celtic and spiritual capital for hundreds of years prior to the arrival of the Normans in the 12th Century.

Tara design jewellery is inspired by the ancient celtic motifs found in the Tara region.

Story of the Claddagh

The early history of the Claddagh goes back over 400 years to a small fishing village nestled on the shores of Galway Bay.

Here the Claddagh became a token of love, loyalty and friendship when a seafaring Spanish goldsmith fell in love with a girl from the Claddagh village and crafted the first Claddagh ring for her. Since that time the Claddagh has become a symbol of love throughout the world.

A Claddagh with the heart facing towards one's heart is seen as a proclamation of love and the heart facing away from one's heart is a sign of being uncommitted.

The crown is for loyalty, as a man promises to be loyal for life to his bethrothed. The hands represent friendship as one's partner in life is also ones best friend.

We hope you enjoy this beautiful Claddagh piece and invite you to browse our many other Claddagh themed product.

Connemara Marble

Connemara is a large peninsula in the west of County Galway. It is one of the last remaining Irish/Gaelic speaking parts of Ireland. The famous green and white Connamara marble, famed for its beauty, its color and its, was formed more than 700 million years ago.

The marble is mined from deep under the 12 Bens Mountains. In ancient times, the beautiful Connemara marble was used for trading and barter. In more recent times Connemara marble was often used in the construction of granda and stateley buildings.

However in current times, Connemara Marble has become synonymous with fine quality jewellery. It enhances jewellery and is becoming more and more popular.

No two piecies of Connemara marble are identical so you are buying a totally unique piece of jewellery.
