More Information
Queen Medhb was the legendary Queen of Connacht.. The portrait is based on carvings in stone dating back to 100BC. The reverse of the note features a decorate excerpt from 'Leabhair na hUadre' dating from 11th and 12th Century.
The overall theme from this note is based on Irish mythology. There were 809,000,000 of these notes issued, most of these were exchanged for the £1 coin which replaced the note in 1990 and the bulk of the remaining notes were cashed in during the Euro changeover in 2001. This is an original note in circulated condition.
