The historical portrait on the note features William Butler Yeats. Yeats is one of Ireland's more famous literary figures, particularly his poetry. He was also founder of the Abbey Theatre, Ireland's national theatre.
The overall theme from this note is based on Irish learning themes. There were 274,000,000 of these notes issued, most of these were exchanged for the £20 C Series Daniel O'Connell bank note in 1993 and the bulk of the remaining notes were cashed in during the Euro changeover in 2001. This is an original note in circulated condition.
